Summer’s just around the corner (that one afternoon of sunshine has us thinking so anyway) and it’s time to decide which new-season trends to invest in. Nothing says Spring Fashion quite like bomber jackets.
Luckily, we’ve rounded up the top five pieces you need to give your current collection that much-needed springtime boost.
The bomber jacket
Once only reserved for military pilots, the bomber jacket is now fashion’s coat du jour. Whether silk-like or embroidered, you can dress it up with a cocktail dress or style it down with a slouchy T-shirt and mom jeans for a look that’s effortlessly cool.
The slip dress
This is one comeback that should never have been left in the 90s. A slip dress has the power to be the hardest-working piece in your wardrobe. Go all-out grunge and pair it with some lace-up boots, or layer it over a jumper on those chillier days when the weather can’t decide what to do.
The ankle boots
Not convinced you can wear ankle boots past March? Think again. All you need is that all-important ankle gap and you can wear them with everything from skirts to dresses and jeans. Opt for metallic, Western, 70s suede or snake-print versions for a new-season refresh.
The ruffled blouse
Don’t worry, we’re not talking 80s meringue frills here, more like delicate ruffles that echo period romance. It all comes down to fashion’s feminine mood of right now. Work the trend with a subtle peplum or cuff, but an off-the-shoulder version will score the most style points.
The pleated skirt
Forget back-to-school style, the pleated skirt just got a high-fashion makeover. Midi is the length to go for because it’s demure and flattering but way more edgy than a mini. Pair it with a lightweight knit on cooler days, or a silk camisole when the sun decides to (finally) make an appearance.
