There are tons of beautiful places in America that you can take your family to for loads of fun and adventure (and great photo ops too). Whether you’re into nature, theme parks, historical sites, or any other type of activity, there is a place out there that will be perfect for you and your family to explore. Annual family vacations usually end up being some of the most priceless memories that a child experiences, and you want to make sure the locations you choose will be ones that you and your family will remember forever.
Below, just in case you need a little help making your decision, is a list of the most popular picture-perfect family destinations—enjoy!
Honolulu-Waikiki
Hawaii has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and we’d be remiss not to mention it when talking about “picture-perfect” destinations. In Waikiki, there are beaches and hotels directly on the water—sand, surf, and the sun is literally right outside your door. But beaches aren’t the only family activity in Waikiki. There are also whale watching boat rides, a zoo, tours of Hawaiian culture, a historical International Market Place, and, of course, luaus.
Walt Disney World (and Orlando, Florida in general)
No list of perfect family vacation destinations would be complete without Disney World. In Orlando, Florida, the famed theme park has all of the Disney characters, rides, and food that you could ever want. If your family gets tired of Minnie & Mickey, however, there are other parks in Orland that you can go to, such as Epcot, Islands of Adventure, SeaWorld, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and more. Orlando provides enough entertainment to keep your family busy from sunrise to way past sundown.
Ocean City, Maryland
Those who have been to Ocean City will tell you that this vacation destination is the scene of some of their best memories growing up. There are ten miles of beaches, as well as nightlife (for the older members of the family), nature, a boardwalk, and other attractions that should make Ocean City one for your bucket list.
Colorado Springs
This destination is more of a nature-oriented one, as there are hiking, mountain climbing, fishing, skiing, and snowboarding hotspots available in Colorado Springs. Pikes Peak is one of the most famous natural landmarks in the state because it is the highest southern summit of the Rocky Mountains’ Front Range. For those in your family who aren’t into the nature scene, Colorado Springs is also known for its spas, especially the Broadmoor; there’s something for everyone.
The Grand Canyon
Located in Arizona, the Grand Canyon was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. It is one of the most famous natural landmarks in the entire world, and your family will be missing out if they don’t go to check it out at least once while on vacation. At the Grand Canyon, you can sightsee, explore, and hike and there are guided tours available as well. Arizona also has 22 other national parks, so once you’re all Canyoned out, you can take a look at those.
Yellowstone
Yellowstone National Park is located in Wyoming, though some parts of it stretch into Idaho and Montana as well and, just like the Grand Canyon, it is a famous natural landmark. Yellowstone has been a park since 1872 and contains geysers (i.e. the famous Old Faithful), hot springs, forests, canyons, and many other feats of nature that will leave you awestruck.
Yosemite
Yosemite National Park is also for nature-lovers. Set in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Yosemite is known for its sequoia trees, waterfalls, lakes, and abundance of beautiful, natural scenery. Inside Yosemite Village, you’ll find shops, museums, and the Ansel Adams gallery, named after an American environmentalist and photographer famous for his pictures of Yosemite and environmental advocacy.
Hopefully, you’ve seen some locations on this list that peak your interest and remember that there are many more picture-perfect family destinations. At the end of the day, it’s about spending time with your family and getting to be with them. Also, remember to bring a small portable camera, like the Polaroid Cube, to capture all the memories.
