3 Tips to Rock Social Media in 2014

3 Tips to Rock Social Media in 2014We are one month into the new year, and with it comes the latest wave in online advertising strategies. The Internet is a constantly evolving beast, so it is always important for businesses to stay in line with the latest trends and marketing techniques.

It goes without saying that social media is at the forefront of online marketing right now. Virtually everyone has some form of social media account, whether it is Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ etc. That is why many companies use the platform to promote themselves, and with good reason. Social media is huge, with fantastic potential to grow ones business.

You should have your own social media accounts set up (and if you don’t, do so right now!), but you also need to make sure you stay on top of them. With that said, we look at three tips for you to take on board for your social media journey through 2014:

Don’t Neglect Any Social Media Channel

You might favor Facebook over Google+, but you have to make sure you treat every social media platform equally. Keep in mind that some people don’t use certain social media, so what might be posted on Facebook might have been missed by someone who only uses Google+. And yes, there are people out there who don’t have a Facebook!

Also make sure that you don’t just replicate the same content for each social media channel. You have to make sure you focus on the demographic for each platform, and create your content with that in mind. For example, LinkedIn is more content-heavy with a heavy focus on business while Instagram is more of a visual feast for the eyes.

Always Communicate and Respond to Visitors

If someone sends you a message, then always make sure to respond!

Failing to reply to a direct comment can break the tentative trust between you and the sender of the message, which could result in losing their trade forever. On the other hand, responding in a timely, thoughtful way can go some way in establishing your business as one that cares. Making your company come across as more human always helps when it comes to generating sales.

Also, if you have any negative feedback, then make sure to always respond to that, too. Criticisms of your company can be hard to take at times, but a professional and dignified response can go a long way in improving your reputation in a full-circle kind of way.

Keep Everything Updated and Fresh

One thing that can reflect badly on a business is if their social media accounts look outdated and rarely updated. It gives off the impression that the company is unprofessional and shows a lack of care towards their visitors. Unsurprisingly, this can cause a business to take a sizeable hit when it comes to sales.

You want potential customers to see your company in a positive light from the start, so always make sure everything is up-to-date (especially contact details!). Even if you’re just posting a small update about an offer or a tidbit from a positive review, constant updates are reassuring to those searching about your business.
