The Best Spots to Welcome the New Year in San DiegoWith 2014 just around the corner, we can’t help but be thrilled about what the coming year has in store for us. They say that to bring in good luck, one must jumpstart the year with good vibes by welcoming the very first day of the year the right way.

Kicking off the New Year can be done in many ways in San Diego. With sparkling evening skyline, breathtaking beaches, and fun loving people to top all that, this city could be your perfect destination this New Year’s Eve. Give you an idea, here are the top spots and the best ways to usher in 2014 in San Diego.

Beach Parties

One of the things that San Diego boasts is its striking coastline. Since its beaches and bay draw both local and tourists around the world, it is therefore no surprise that waterside parties are popular in ringing in the New Year in this side of California. The Hilton San Diego Bayfront celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and will host the Big Night New Year’s Eve celebration, which you can check out.

There is also the Bahia Resort Hotel, which offers a New Year’s Eve Party Package that includes a one-night stay, a party cruise aboard the Bahia Belle on Mission Bay, midnight toast, and party favors. If you want to have a more toned-down celebration, there are also beaches where you can go on a picnic, sans the huge party, and await the fireworks show from afar.

Dinner Cruises

If you want to be close to the waters yet would rather skip the sand, you can always do so by hopping aboard on one of the dinner cruises offered in the area.  You can welcome the new year in Mission Bay at the luxurious Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa where you can upgrade your ticket to optional VIP and come aboard the 3-story William D. Evans VIP Party Boat, where you can enjoy full a full casino.

If you want great entertainment and dining experience while trying your luck, you can always find a good casino in San Diego. You can also experience a soiree at a $25-million dollar yacht almost as long as a football field at Vavi’s New Year’s Eve Yacht Party. Now how’s that for starting the year with a bang?

Theme Parks, Diners, and Parades

Who says New Year’s celebration can’t be a family event? Even kids can welcome the new year in high spirits at some of San Diego’s NYE happenings. The whole family can watch the ball drop at midnight on big screens at John’s Incredible Pizza Company where you can also join the IncrediBear Horn Parade at midnight. As early as seven in the evening, you can already witness the countdown to the dropping of the ball in the Big Apple with a resident DJ spinning great tunes in the background at Corvette Diner.

If the NYC-feel isn’t the kids’ cup of tea, there is also of course the fantastic event at Legoland specially prepared for them.  Here, children can enjoy kid’s concert and countdown to the new year, just like in the famous Times Square. What’s more interesting is the huge LEGO brick dropping 22 feet into 2014 and a dazzling fireworks display thereafter.
