"4 Recipe To Detox The Body & Nurture The Soul"

Four recipes to feed the body and nurture the Soul. The Spring is coming very fast and our body throughout the winter has adopted a more hibernating mode. This is the time to give it a gentle awakening with a transition to the new spring through detoxifying and cleansing without compromising our taste buds.

Here are 4 delicious and highly cleansing recipes to help you move into the warming seasons with a smile!

1). Herb Detox Soup (Detoxifying & Delicious) Serves 8-10

6 tablespoons Garlic
3 tablespoons Basil
6 tablespoons Coriander (cilantro)
3 tablespoons Lemon Grass
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground thyme
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 16oz can tomatoes (keep juice)
1 16oz can white beans (drained)
8 cups of homemade vegetable broth
pinch of Saffron

Recipe: Put all ingredients except the saffron in large soup pot and bring to a boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add saffron, stir and simmer for 5 minutes.

2). Alkalizing Raw Soup (Energizing/Detoxing/Cleansing)

This is definitely a highly energizing soup and is a big favorite while on a cleanse or detox. Contains avocado which is high in EFAs and cucumber which is well known for its cleansing properties. The taste of this soup can be dramatically altered by the use of the herbs and spices mentioned or by alternating between lemon and lime.

1 Avocado
2 spring onions
1/2 red or green pepper
1 cucumber
2 handfuls of spinach
1/2 clove of garlic
Bragg liquid Aminos to taste
100ml of light vegetable bouillon (yeast free)
Juice of 1 lemon or lime
Optional: coriander, parsley, cumin

Recipe: blend the avocado and stock to form a light paste, then add the other ingredients and blend. Serve.

3). Mint Watermelon Popsicles

These popsicles are a great fat-free snack, made with lots of naturally sweet watermelon. They can be frozen in special popsicle molds or in standard ice cube trays. (3 cubes equals one serving).

1 1/2 pounds seedless watermelon without the rind, cut into 1-inch dice (about 4 cups)
1 1/2 tablespoons agave
1/4 cut mint leaves, minced
2 tablespoons finely grated lemon zest
pinch of salt

In a blender, puree the watermelon with the agave until smooth. Stir in the mint, lemon zest and salt. Pour the puree into 8 popsicle molds or 2 standard ice cube trays (insert popsicle sticks halfway through freezing) and freeze until hard (about 3 hours). The watermelon popsicles can be frozen for up to 1 week.

4). Clarifying organic Roast Chicken with Gremolata

Gremolata is a classic mix of lemon, parsley and garlic. It’s also a good detox option because the limonene in lemon peel helps the liver neutralize toxins.

2 tablespoons lemon zest (from 1 large organic lemon)
1/4 cup chopped organic parsley
2 cloves garlic minced
1 free range organic chicken (look for a 5-pound roaster)
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

1. Preheat over to 500*F
2. In a small bowl, mix together the lemon zest, parsley and garlic
3. Place the chicken on a work surface. manually lift the skin away from the breast meat and lightly coat the flesh with the lemon zest mixture. Rub some of the mixture onto the skin covering the legs and thighs and more of it inside the chicken cavity.
4. Combine what’s left of the lemon zest mixture with the oil, salt and pepper in a bowl; set aside.
5. Place the chick, breast side down, on a rack in a roasting pan and bake for 20 minutes. Turn the bird breast side up and spoon some of the oil mixture over it. Bake for 10 more minutes or until the breast is lightly brown.
6. Lower the heat to 320*F and baste again. Continue roasting until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the the thighs reads 160*F to 165*F. (Total cooking time will be about 1 hour).
7. Transfer chicken to a platter, let cool for 5 minutes, then carve and serve.
